Today is history，是《辛德勒名單》中的一句台詞。
拉爾夫·費因斯飾演的德國軍官戈倫，在率領黨衛軍掃盪克拉克夫猶太人居住的街區前，發表的一段講演，他用厚重的鼻音重復了幾遍。
歷史，對於每一個人，既熟悉又陌生。但是，慘痛的過去意味著歷史嗎？應該說既是又不是。當我們用慘痛這個詞來強調它的傷害時，過去已經變成一種歷史感。《辛德勒名單》盡管給我們呈現了那一段過去，但沒有強調歷史的慘痛，這慘痛是我們的體會，不是影片本身。
這一段歷史在影片中超出背景的意義，所以，德國人也好猶太人也好，既不批判他們也沒有歌頌他們，這已經無需舉例。
我們希望它可以更完美一些，希望而已，《辛德勒名單》的目的是救命！
救命
「拯救一人，即拯救全世界！」這樣的話聽來，和我們中國人常常聽到的「救人一命勝造七級浮屠」有著不謀而合的道理，救命的意義不是在於救命的行為，而是帶來的心靈凈化，他首先是拯救了自己。
辛德勒作為故事主人公，他的一生沒有在影片里完全展開，但最為全面而重要的部分在戰爭這一放大鏡下，我們已經看到了。歷史背景之下，辛德勒是作為一個商人出現，進而他是一個納粹黨員。當然，他信不信國家社會主義不重要，重要的是在影片開始的酒會上，他突出地表明了一個投機分子的作風。他對猶太人沒有什麼感情，在歷史機遇到來時，他敏銳的抓住了機遇，發了戰爭財，他巧妙的榨取了猶太人的血汗。
但是，「Today is history」的那一天，辛德勒出現在山頂上是一場偶然，表現，德國黨衛軍不僅僅在對猶太人進行暴行，那象徵的是整個人類，包括德國人自己。理由也就是所謂的辯證思維。辛德勒心靈的重創和他妻子的驚恐很好的證明了這一點。那一刻，辛德勒開始重生，也就所謂一念天堂，一念地獄。

寫下這個題目，腦中思緒萬千，卻不知該從何說起。且不談影片的選材與拍攝，那份凝重與深刻就足以使呼吸無從落腳。我看到身邊的朋友，那輕松的姿態和歡笑的面孔，我看到湛藍的天， *** 的桃花，新綠的樹枝，有陽光暖暖的照在身上，我感覺到心頭的沉重，連眼角也滲著苦澀，可我沒有哭的勇氣，在歷史的傷痛里我找不到詞彙來形容我的渺小。這場戲劇耗盡了我所有的自信和力量，甚至被那一段灰黑的影片世界抹煞了視覺，那唯一的紅色的消逝也刺痛了情感，猶太人衷情聖詠的心聲滌盪了靈魂，鋼琴相對小提琴的溫暖，才讓我有了思考的力量。

1993年，美國著名導演史蒂文.斯皮爾伯格帶領《辛德勒名單》一片攝制組初抵波蘭，就在他們跨進二戰期間克拉科夫中營准備安營紮寨之時，突然收到全美猶太人協會從紐約發來的一封急電："請勿驚擾亡魂，讓他們安息吧。"斯皮爾伯格讀完這聊聊數語的電文，一言不發。他當即下令攝制組全體人員撤離克拉科夫集中營，轉移到幾十公里以外，搭置布景拍攝。與此同時，他獨自一人離開了攝制組，乘飛機直接飛往紐約。斯皮爾伯格不派代表，不藉助電話、電報、電傳等迅速方便的現代化通訊工具而橫跨大西洋，親赴紐約向"猶協"致歉，他的謙遜和誠意令"猶協"全體成員無不動容。難怪後來國際影評界交口贊譽《辛德勒名單》是"一位充滿人道主義精神的導演拍攝的一部洋溢人道主義氣息的電影"。
